The barometer chart shows the low pressure at the start of the month, responsible for the wet conditions, followed by a rise to high pressure for the following 2 weeks. Even though the pressure did dip down again towards the end of the month it was still centered nearby over the UK and managed to maintain its influence in the form of calm and clear conditions.

Not a huge amount to say about wind speeds, relatively calm after the first week due to the influence of the high pressure. We still managed some respectable high speeds, that of the 26th was associated with a band of sleet showers. Compared with the 30 year average wind speeds this month were well down. The 30 year average speed for February is 12.6 knots, we recorded an average of only 4.3 knots.

 

The rainfall started very promising with large falls on the 2nd, 3rd and 4th and more on the 6th. Thereafter the rain was almost non-existent, again due to the high pressure dominating the scene. In February 2004 we recorded 86% of the 30 year average:
