Building on the Introduction to Web Site Design course this course introduces the principles required to build interactive sites that make use of a back-end database store and supply dynamic web content. The course aims to make attendees proficient in using the PHP language to access a MySQL database to store data entered and retrieve the results. The course also introduces the use of Javascript to provide validation of the end user experience.

By the end of the course attendees will:

  • Have experience using all form elements for interacting with the user
  • Have experience using PHP to construct web pages
  • Have experience using PHP to process form data
  • Have experience in storing form data in a database
  • Have experience in retrieving data from a database
  • Have experience in using Javascript to provide form validation.

Attendees should have completed the Introduction to Web Site Design course or have other experience in working with raw HTML and Cascading Style Sheets. Previous experience with databases is not necessary; but candidates would benefit from a basic knowledge of the SQL language.

The course takes a project based approach to teaching the material andat the end of the course delegates will have a completed  interactive web site they can take away with them.

The course lasts 5 days and places are limited to ensure attendees have sufficient opportunity to complete practical work.
